R 88, "Maneuvering" is the American spelling of the word. It should be 'Manoeuvring.

I think 266 which says " ... a lane may lead directly off the motorway ... " has got it correct. The M3 Smart junction inside lane does NOT lead DIRECTLY off, only if you deviate further to the left.

Incorrect, if you drive on the M3 Smart Motorway and stay in the nearside lane you are taken off at the junction, you have no choice. If you wish to continue on the Motorway, you must move over into the next lane. Consequently many drives don't bother with the nearside lane.

I see. Makes me wonder then what part of "smart motorway" the designers didn't understand. Sounds very non-smart if every junction breaks the flow.

Admittedly there is plenty of warning that you need to change lanes, but after having passed 2 or 3 junctions and changed lanes each time before and after, there is little incentive to drive entirely on the left. From my observations the lane is often empty when the other lanes are congested.

Hi all, a quick question. A round about by me has several lanes running around it with the outer two running off into exits crossing over the lanes, as the lanes cross to run off these are indicated by short dashed lines running over long dashed lines to identify the lanes of traffic coming onto the round about. In this circumstance who would have right of way a vehicle travelling in the outside lane following the lane indicated by the longer dashes(not necessarily just joined) or a vehicle in the middle lane crossing over to the exit?

Cycling section: I am heartened to read the section regarding cyclists, particularly paragraph 66 which includes 'never ride more than two abreast, and ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends'.
